2.1 Appellants
Aid may be granted for an appeal against conviction and/or sentence where there exists:
a. a reasonable prospect of success; or
b. a substantial advantage to the applicant such as regaining his or her liberty, livelihood or employment; or a substantial reduction in the sentence.
2.2 Aid for appeals on a matter of legal principle, which would not give rise to a substantial benefit to the applicant can only be granted by the Director or a Legal Aid Committee.
2.3 Respondents
Legal assistance may be granted to respond to a Crown appeal without regard to the merit test.
