The Duty Solicitor will appear for you if you have been arrested and wish to apply for bail or if you are eligible for a grant of legal aid. To find out if you are eligible for legal aid see Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS).

At the court, look for the Legal Aid Duty Solicitor signs or ask a member of the court staff to put you in contact with the Duty Solicitor.

This service is free of charge.

If you have been to court unrepresented and now need a solicitor to represent you contact your nearest Legal Aid office.

To find out more on court procedures and bail see the Factsheet Going to the Magistrates Court .
