COMMUNITY FORENSIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE (CFMHS)
|
The CFMHS provides comprehensive mental health and psychosocial assessment and treatment, case management including support, advocacy, mediation, liaison and referral, consultation and education and management of prescribed medication for people who have a mental health issue and who are involved with the criminal justice system. Potential clients need to be referred for assessment. CFMHS has a Court Liaison Officer who provide assistance to people who have a mental health problems and have to go to court. |

COURT SUPPORT & LIAISON SERVICE
|
Free service for adult & child victims of family violence through the Safe at Home program. Court Support Officers are available to provide support to adult and child victims of family violence, inlcuding referral to appropriate counselling and other services and guide them through the justice system during and after court appearances. Also independantly prepares children and young people to give evidence in court and to help minimise the trauma for a child in an adult legal system. Provide assistance with how to take out a Family Violence Order. Also has an Aboriginal Court Support Officer |

FAMILY VIOLENCE RESPONSE AND REFERRAL LINE
|
Part of the Safe At Home iniative. This is a 24 hour, 7 days service. The Vicitm Safety Response Team (VSRT) work with victims of family violence undertaking follow up work from police, frequently carrying out safety audits and safety plans. Calls requiring an imediate response will have a police intervention team dispatched. Those calls not requiring an immediate 'safety' response will be referred to appropriate counselling, support and referral services. | Contact Local Police; or Ask for VSRT on 1800 633 937. |

These services are available at 166 Macquarie Street, Hobart, Monday to Thursday 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.; Friday 9.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. Also provides free evening legal information sessions Mondays & Wednesdays from 6.00 p.m. People wanting to use this service are asked to be at the office by 6.15 p.m. No appointment necessary. Can assist with support & advocacy for clients proceeding through the justice system, liaison between Police, Courts and Legal Aid, Dept. of Justice, Corrective Services and clients, assistance for help in accessing services within the justice system.
