If you need advice on any legal issue you can come and see a lawyer for a private consultation at one of our clinics. If you need to make an application for legal aid for family law, family violence, criminal law or mental health matters come and see a lawyer at clinic.

Going to court – speak to the duty lawyer

At the Magistrates Court the duty lawyer can help you with information about court procedures, bail applications, pleas and penalties. The duty lawyer will appear for you if you have been arrested and wish to apply for bail or if you are eligible for a grant of legal aid. At the Family Court, anyone can ask the duty lawyer for information about what happens in court and how to prepare for court.

Family dispute resolution

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Conferences aim to resolve disputes about care of children at an early stage. The parties are given the opportunity to negotiate a settlement which suits them both without the need to go to Court. If a settlement is reached, consent orders are drafted and filed in the Family Court.
