The Office of the Ombudsman and Health Complaints Commissioner administers the Mental Health Official Visitors Program.
Mental Health Official Visitors check on the care and treatment of patients in State run mental health hospitals and other approved facilities and can receive complaints from patients.

The Mental Health Tribunal is an independent body established under the Mental Health Act 2013. It protects the rights, safety, inclusion and dignity of people being involuntarily treated for mental illness.
The Mental Health Tribunal is responsible for civil and forensic matters. The Mental Health Tribunal’s main function is:
- to authorise and review the treatment of people with mental illness, who don’t have the capacity to make decisions and provide informed consent for treatment.
This includes deciding:
- when people with a mental illness can be detained in a hospital or other treatment facility
- what treatment a doctor can provide when it has been decided that the person is too unwell to make treatment decisions for themselves.
The Tribunal is independent. It is not connected to any hospital or other facility or organisation that provides mental health services.

Mental Health Services in Tasmania provides assistance to people of all ages with serious mental health issues. Services are delivered regionally throughout Tasmania within four service streams: Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Adult Community Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health and Inpatient and Extended Treatment Mental Health. Access to all services is via the Mental Health Services Helpline. The Helpline is a confidential phone service that you can call 24 hours, 7 days a week for advice, assessment and referral. The Mental Health Services Helpline is a 24 hour a day/7 day a week service for mental health crisis. Operates as a statewide service reaching all regions of Tasmania. Provides community mental health professionals who can give advice and will arrange mental health assessments and intervention for persons in need.

The Attorney-General’s Department may provide legal financial assistance for parents or guardians whose children are being retained in another country, by another person, without their consent.
Applications can be made to the department for grants to cover:
- the overseas legal costs of obtaining a court order for the return of a child to Australia
- flights for the return of a child to Australia
- flights for people who are required to attend overseas legal proceedings or to escort a child back to Australia.
The department cannot cover:
- costs for access or visitation with a child
- any Australian legal costs.
The department will not, generally, cover the cost of any legal fees or expenses incurred before an application is made or if the applicant meet the cost without incurring serious financial difficulty.

Pulse Youth Health South is a free and confidential health promotion, prevention and early intervention service for young people aged 12-24 years. Provides a mix of clinical services, education and health promotion programs to assist young people to address a wide range of health issues. Has a Worker on Duty to provide individual support for young people, a sexual health GP clinic, psychological services. Young people can self refer. Appointments not needed to access the Worker on Duty service.

Rural Alive & Well Inc (RAW) is an incorporated not for profit organisation formed to create resilience and capacity of individuals, families and the comunity to react to challenging life experiences with particular emphasis on mental health and wellbeing. Provides assistance to individuals at risk of mental health problems, acute distress and suicide.

Reconnect is an Anglicare program which supports young people, aged between 12-18 years, in North-West Tasmania to reconcile with their families.

Step Up is a Colony47 program for young people aged between 12-17 and their families aimed to address recurring violent behaviour by young people toward a family member or intimate partner. Where violent behaviour is toward a family member Step Up can support either or both the parent/carer and young person. The program provides one on one support and aims to assist young people to understand consequences of violent behaviour, strengthen family and personal relationships and utilise appropriate referral pathways to other specialist services. The program works to empower parents and provide them with tools and strategies to assist them in keeping all family members safe.

Strong Families, Safe Kids Advice & Referral Line is the first point of contact for child wellbeing and safety.
With a coordinated network of government and non-government support – and your help – we can deliver earlier intervention and better outcomes for at-risk children and their families.

The Suicide Call Back Service is a 24 hour, nationwide service that provides telephone and online counselling to people 15 years and over who fit one of the following categories:
- People who are suicidal
- People caring from someone who is suicidal
- People bereaved by suicide
- Health professionals supporting people affected by suicide.

The TTMHN advocates for the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse communities by strengthening the cultural competency and cultural responsiveness of the mental health workforce in Tasmania.
The TTMHN aims to support the mental health workforce to ensure that culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, families and communities are planned for within service delivery.
