The Tasmanian Refugee Legal Service is a not for profit refugee legal service. The primary purpose of the Tasmanian Refugee Legal Service is to relieve the necessitous circumstances of people of refugee background, humanitarian entrants and people seeking asylum who reside in Tasmania through the provision of free and confidential legal services.

Provides advice, information and advocacy to private and public housing tenants on issues such as withheld bonds, sub-standard accommodation; illegal evictions; negotiation; Duty Solicitor available to appear in Launceston Magistrate Court once per week. Provides leases; condition report forms & Tenants Rights booklet to tenants & landlords. Runs community legal education sessions and campaigns for law reform.

Provides assistance to women with particular emphasis on women’s legal issues. Free and confidential legal advice and referral. Telephone calls to the Service are free from anywhere in Tasmania and will not show up on telephone bills.
