Worker Assist Tasmania Inc. is a community legal centre that provides free confidential legal advice, information and assistance to injured Tasmanian workers.
We provide independent and unbiased advice regarding
- Workers compensation claims
- Return to work and rehabilitation issues following a workplace injury or illness and
- Claims under the Asbestos-related Disease Compensation Scheme
Worker Assist operates a statewide telephone service between 8:30am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. We welcome walk-ins to our premises at 212 Liverpool Street, Hobart.
The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) provide information and assistance to small businesses and family enterprises, including referral to dispute resolution services.
The ASBFEO information line is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and is closed on Australian National Public Holidays.

Enterprise Centres Tasmania is a statewide network of business advisors funded by the Tasmanian government
The service provides up to five hours of free and confidential business information, guidance and support services to existing and intending small business owners Business advisors are members of the community with expertise in small business, can assist with a wide range of business issues and refer clients to other sources of business support.

The role of the Fair Work Ombudsman is to work with employees, employers, contractors and the community to promote harmonious, productive and cooperative workplaces. The Fair Work Ombudsman will investigate workplace complaints and enforce compliance with Australia’s workplace laws.

The Self Representation Service can assist unrepresented litigants with civil law proceedings in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court relating to Bankruptcy and Fair Work.
They are unable to provide assistance for family and criminal law matters.
They can provide free assistance to individuals who:
- are involved in, or are considering commencing legal proceedings in the Federal Court or Federal Circuit Court.
- Have a legal issue that they have expertise in.
- Are not represented.
- Are unable to afford private legal assistance.
- Are ineligible for Legal Aid.
Aims to improve safety, health and rehabilitation in the workplace, and to reduce death, injury and disease; target high consequence activities; be a responsive regulator; engage with the community and to ensure better return to work.
