When will the offices close?

All our offices will close from Friday 22nd December 2017.

When will the offices re-open?

We will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 2nd January 2018. Clinic services will also resume from this date.

What happens if I am arrested?

If you are arrested over the holiday period, just ask for the Legal Aid Duty Solicitor. This service is provided free of charge.

Will the telephone advice line be available?

The telephone advice line will also close from Friday 22nd December 2017 and will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 2nd January 2018.

Will the mental health service be available?

The mental health service will close on Friday 22nd December 2017 and re-open on Tuesday 2nd January 2018 at 9am.

When does the Family Court Duty Lawyer service start again?

The Family Court Duty Lawyer service will resume as follows:

  • In Hobart from Tuesday 2nd January 2018 at the Family Law Courts (please note the Family Law Court Registry is closed until 5th January 2018 but the building itself will be open)
  • In Launceston from Tuesday 2nd January at the Launceston Legal Aid office at 64 Cameron Street, Launceston

When does the Family Advocacy and Support Service (FASS) service start again?

The Family Advocacy and Support Service will resume state-wide on Tuesday 2nd January 2018, please call 1800 431 157 to make an appointment.

When does the COTA Clinic for seniors start again?

The first COTA clinic for 2018 will be on Thursday 1st February 2018, to make an appointment contact COTA on (03) 6231 3265.
