This animation explains the services that are provided by the duty lawyer in the Tasmanian Magistrates Court.

If you need help at the Magistrates Court ask to speak to the duty lawyer. This service is free.

Anyone can ask the duty lawyer for information on what they have been charged with and what happens in court.

The duty lawyer can also appear for you if you have been arrested and wish to apply for bail.

If you have been to court and now need a lawyer please call our legal advice line on 1300 366 611.

So remember, if you need help at the Magistrates Court ask to speak to the duty lawyer.
